Kings Ditch

Trail Overview

The Kings Ditch single track is part of the Flat Top - Peach Valley Trail System, a huge area outside of Montrose, Colorado made up of many adobe ridge line trails and ditch trails in the lower arroyos. This trail in particular features both the ridge lines and the ditches. From the NE end of the trail, it departs from an intersection with Teton Ridge and Dump Ridge, and gradually drops a few hundred feet over the next half mile. The trail follows an adobe ridge line that has a lot of whoops, and the trail is pretty wide and easy along the ridge line. It drops off the adobe hills into a flat valley. It crosses the King Ditch with a big dip, then parallels the ditch on top of it overlooking down into the ditch for the rest of the trail, without actually dropping into the ditch. The section paralleling the ditch is very wide, almost like an ATV trail. The trail has a lot of whoops and erosion from moisture. From the end of the trail you can continue on Kings Ditch ATV trail that is very similar, and this combination of trails serves as a good bailout back to the staging area after a fun day of riding the adobes. Since this one is easy, it is a good entrance or exit from the riding area.
