Trail Overview
This is a fun, mid-level, technical trail that goes from the Green River all the way to the top of Gun Sight Pass, offering 360-degree views of the Wind River, Absarokas, and Grand Tetons Mountain ranges. Taking the trail from the Green River (south) you'll climb out of the river navigating deep mud and ruts. Expect to dodge trees as you navigate rock fields. The obstacles vary from low 5s to 3s. There's nothing too crazy, but tire placement in a few spots is critical. Beware of mud in the rainy season as parts may be impassable. After the climb up, you'll get to Pinon Ridge which takes you all the way to the top of Gun Sight Pass. Camping is available everywhere if you'd like to stay. If you want to come from the north and not do all the technical stuff, you can do that via Union Pass. Keep in mind that Pinon Ridge up to Gun Sight is a tight trail in spots and high clearance will be needed. Also, the top of the trail is known for mud traps. Beware if the ground has been rained on for days.
