Trail Overview
Las Palmas is a very special and unique place. There is a motorized vehicle closure on the beach, due to a protected turtle sanctuary. Please respect the motorized vehicle closure and do not drive a motorized vehicle on the beach. This trail will take you right to that closure and then you can take a short walk to the beach. You'll be surrounded by a curtain of very tall palm trees, and small water pools depending on the season. It's a perfect place to spend an incredible night camping. It's also a perfect place to swim or surf. You just have to find the trail. And if you have a dirt bike, riding to the top can be a lot of fun! There is no sign for the trail to Las Palmas. The trail starts on Km 58. If you get there between December and July, it's a pretty easy ride, with some loose sand, compact dirt, and some water roots. If you go there during the rainy season, expect to find some deep water roots across the road and a very muddy section. High-clearance vehicles and 4x4 are necessary. Keep in mind that you will have to do a walk thru the beautiful Palm Trees Oasis Trail, which will lead you to this incredible (and most of the time empty) beach.
