Trail Overview
This trail is more challenging than most in the lake area, featuring significant rain ruts and demanding careful wheel placement. It starts off the Laguna Hanson Detour and offers a scenic out-and-back experience. As you progress, the rock formations become larger, reaching their peak near the trail's end, while the trail itself gradually becomes more difficult. In certain sections, rain ruts are so deep that they've been filled with old tree branches and rocks to allow passage. Four-wheel drive is essential due to the steep, sandy sections. Along the trail, you might encounter deer, donkeys, and possibly even bighorn sheep in the high-rock areas. This route provides a rewarding challenge for those equipped to handle it. The road ends at a locked gate to a private ranch and you can only continue beyond that point with permission.

Difficulty
This trail requires 4WD and careful wheel placement with some slick and steep areas when its dry. There are sections too narrow for a full size truck but it is possible to get through with heavy pin striping. Be aware that this description was written in the summer dry months and in the winter or after major storms this trail could be much more difficult.
