Trail Overview
Gas up and Hammer Down! This exciting trail is sure to give you a challenge as it is riddled with loose rock, giant boulders, rock ledges, and slick mica and slate rock. Due to the ruts that guide the water down the mountain, this trail is ever-changing but gets back to its more difficult status sooner rather than later. This buggy dream trail will be nearly impossible to run without winching when wet. Many riders try to swing wide to scale the large rock face for a better approach angle, but in return, it makes the trail wider with nothing to stop you from rolling down the mountain should you start tipping. If you are lucky enough to pass that point, two additional rock ledges will continue to make you work for the glory of finishing Hammer Down.

Difficulty
The first real obstacle on this trail is 8 feet tall and 13-15 feet long. If that one rock face was not present, this trail would be downgraded to a 7-8 in difficulty due to the steeper climbs with taller rock ledges.
