Trail Overview
1098 is an easy dirt road that goes from the intersection of Ferry Swale Road and 1097 to the Thousand Pockets Trailhead. It goes from BLM land into the Vermillion Cliffs National Monument. It's fast and straight in the beginning, with more corners later as it heads south. It's a mix of sand, hardpacked dirt, rock slab, and wash crossings. It ends at the Thousand Pockets trailhead. It's corralled off here so you can't go any farther south, as it reaches the wilderness boundary. You can keep going east on 1099.

Difficulty
The trail is mostly easy except for a few sections that are rockier with rock slab embedded in the surface of the trail and some loose chunks of rock on a small hill.
