12 Mile Trail

Trail Overview

This 12-mile route contains off-camber turns, steep, short climbs, river bed washes, rocky paths, and beautiful scenery that contains wildlife, mountains, and several herds of cattle. Additionally, this area is highly used by illegal immigration and caution should be taken when traveling this area as it can be dangerous. Expect to see Border Patrol in the area as well as hunters.

Difficulty

It would be wise to have front axle sway bar disconnect for small portions of this trail. Most of it if not all can be driven without 4 wheel drive depending on weather and recent rain caused terrain changes. There are a few steep climbs coming out of river beds, and sharp steep drop offs that require choice of line to traverse. Recent rain can cause several water filled mud pits, and deep ruts.
