Trail Overview
217 Sinkhole starts off of the 67 with an easy entrance onto a wide gravel road. Almost immediately, you'll see the camp spurs off to the north side, leading back through a burned old forest of ponderosa pine trees. The wildfire burn scar will stay with you throughout this trail and for much of this area. The road has no obstacles on it, as well as no cell service, so offline maps are recommended. The sinkhole itself is quite impressive, and there is an interpretive placard providing more information about it and the area. There are many campsites along this route, with plenty of places to pull large trailers through. This trail also passes the Three Lakes Cabin and pond area, with a fence and a large meadow that might be nice to take a break in or even have a picnic.
