Trail Overview
Butler Point is a great trail to access many forest roads within the Apache Sitgreaves Forest. At the beginning, it is a 2WD road accessible to many vehicles. When you turn right and it starts heading west, it becomes a bit more technical in a few spots, and high-clearance 4WD is highly recommended. It's a favorite up in the mountains as it pairs well with many of the other trails for a day trip, half-day trip, or even just a couple hours out. In the winter, it's best to stay off these roads so they don't get torn up with the mud and soft clay soil that is so plentiful in the area. They are not plowed, so many people get stuck here and tear up the forest in the winter--please tread lightly.
