Trail Overview
The views and landscape surrounding the Date Creek Ranch Road are absolutely gorgeous. Wide and spacious, this road has no major obstacles on it. It does, however, have some of the oldest and most interesting-looking Joshua trees on it. Large cacti, creosote, and other scrub brush dot the landscape and hills that this road bobs and weaves between. At the north end, the road dead-ends into private property, with at least one of them being an Airbnb. Some cattle graze along this road, as well as other wildlife in the area. This road is well-marked and is on Arizona State Trust Land, requiring a permit for access. The yearly permit can be purchased and printed online. The permit allows certain recreational activities, including camping, bicycling, bird watching, GPS-based recreational activities (geocaching), hiking, horseback riding, off-highway vehicle (OHV) usage, photography, picnicking, and sightseeing.
