Dry Gulch Trail

Trail Overview

Dry Gulch Trail starts as a wide dirt road, with plenty of room for two vehicles to pass each other. As you progress, the trail narrows to a two-track, and then eventually peters out in a pasture. Due to Leave No Trace principles, it is being reclaimed by nature; with no clear way through defined, the trail stops. While on the trail, there are spots with erosion, as well as a few wash crossings. But have no fear, as there are no obstacles over 12 inches on this trail. A popular area with hunters, don't be surprised to see people out and about or vehicles parked so that they can hike in. Near the end of the trail, there is a full cow skeleton under a tree, with smaller bones scattered about. No skull is located nearby, however. There is no cell service on this trail, so downloading offline maps is recommended. Along the way, you'll meander through the juniper trees and undergrowth that are paramount to the ecosystem of the Prescott National Forest.
