Trail Overview
Echo Wash is an interesting trail that takes you to the base of the hills in this area of the Arizona Land Trust on the north end. The trail culminates at a campsite half under a huge boulder. The campsites are on a high spot, tucked between two hills that give views of the surrounding valley. As is typical in this area, there will be erosion and wash crossings getting to this site, but it's well worth it. There is a fun section on this trail that is in a wash, filled with loose sand which is fun to drive. There are no major obstacles on this trail and limited cell service throughout, so offline maps are needed. This route is on Arizona State Trust Land. This land requires a yearly permit that can be purchased and printed online. The permits allow certain recreational activities, including camping, bicycling, bird watching, GPS-based recreational activities (geocaching), hiking, horseback riding, off-highway vehicle (OHV) usage, photography, picnicking, and sightseeing.
