Trail Overview
Elk Spring was one of my favorite trails to map, in one of my favorite sections of this forest. It's a one-lane dirt trail, with no obstacles, as well as no cell service. This trail is in a beautiful hilly section of a healthy forest of Ponderosa Pines. There are some mud ruts and erosion on this trail, as well as water damage, but other than that there are minimal threats. There are some rudimentary gates along this trail that need to be closed behind you, as cattle graze in the area during the warmer months. This area is popular with hunters, so don't be surprised to see evidence of elk, antelope, and deer. Near the end of the trail there are sections of protected wetlands that are being rehabilitated, so please adhere to the signage.
