If you find yourself longing for more excitement after the smooth ride on East Willow Springs Drive, High Voltage Hijinks is the trail that delivers! This route offers a refreshing challenge with its deep washouts and rugged terrain, all while providing breathtaking views of the north side of the Santa Catalina Mountains. As you traverse this trail, expect to encounter a couple of steep drops and significant washouts that will keep you on your toes. The route features sections that demand articulation from your vehicle, alongside plenty of rocky areas that add to the adventure. Keep an eye on the scenery as you look out towards the town of Oracle and admire the impressive backdrop of Mount Lemmon. When you veer away from the pole line, the landscape opens into charming fields of low shrubs. Here, you'll find some dispersed campsites scattered throughout, providing excellent spots for a quiet getaway. The difficulty eases in this area, allowing for a more relaxed drive, although you'll still navigate a few rocky washouts. Important Note: As you explore High Voltage Hijinks, remember that preparing adequately for desert conditions is essential. Stay aware that cellular service typically has two to three bars of Verizon LTE along the trail. Don't forget to obtain your Arizona State Land Trust permit before embarking on your journey.
