Trail Overview
This trail runs from Highway 93 to the shores of beautiful Alamo Lake. There are plenty of dispersed camping spots on either end and if you prefer a more established campground, those can be found at Alamo Lake or the Wayside Oasis. The Oasis is a great spot to stop and refuel, do laundry, or even shower. If you prefer to grab a burger and a beer, they have you covered as well. The majority of the western half of the trail is long, fast, and graded, with plenty of room to pass oncoming traffic. As you run the eastern side of the trail, it narrows and becomes more challenging with sharper corners, some wash crossings, and narrow trees. Overall it's an enjoyable way to traverse the desert with lots of large Joshua trees and plenty of chances to spot burros and open-range cattle.
