Trail Overview
What a wonderful way to traverse the desert. This moderately traveled trail is in surprisingly great shape. With long flat straightaways and a few wash transitions, it will surely get you where you want to be quickly and comfortably. If camping is your jam, there are several well-established fire rings along the way, with plenty of flat spots to call it a night. There are a few bars of Verizon LTE service here and there and expansive views of the surrounding area. The military is quite active in the sky's around here, and Ospreys seem to be flying low in the afternoon, and F-22 Raptors and F18 Hornets buzzing the deck nearby. It's a beautiful part of the desert with historical significance and lots to see. Be sure to look at the hillside near the northern section before the wash. Can you spot the ancient battlements? Be sure to explore but keep your distance from these relics of a fight long ago. Keep your eyes out for deer crossing your path and plenty of desert birds, from hummingbirds to red-tailed hawks and everything in between. Narrow sections with desert plants to scratch your paint--a few wash crossings with 2" ledges and sandy washes.
