Trail Overview
Ponderosa is an easy ATV trail near Prescott, Arizona that starts at the Schoolhouse Gulch Trailhead on the north end and connects to Maripai Road on the south end. Going south to north, it starts out on top of the mountain on a ridge line, as a two-track full of rocks and gravel, in between lots of scrub oak bushes. It rides along the ridgeline, then drops down 400 feet over the course of 1.6 miles. There are some sections with loose rock, bigger rock, and roots, but it's mostly all easy. It parallels Highway 89 for the remainder of the north section of the trail until it comes to a staging area for Schoolhouse Gulch.
