Trail Overview
Red Rim is a 3-mile loop on top of one of the mesas in this red sandy desert by Page, Arizona. It has awesome views out towards Glen Canyon and toward the town of Page. The trail starts as easy sand under the powerlines and climbs up the mesa. The climb is not hard, but it is deep sand. Once you are on top of the mesa, there are more slab rock layers under the sand. The rock creates small ledges up to a foot tall that are slightly off-camber and shelfy. This trail looks less ridden with fewer tracks and is a bit narrower. Like most of the trails in the area, it has lots of whoops. Part of the loop has more hardpacked dirt and less sand, but more slab rock. When you're on the rim of the mesa, it overlooks the whole valley. Overall the trail is still easy, but you need a vehicle with high clearance on the slick rock.
