Trail Overview

Reese Canyon is a wide and rocky trail with no major obstacles on it. There is an erosion-type gatekeeper at the North end with will put you off-camber, and could possibly worsen over time as this area is shaped specifically by the water and rain from the monsoon storms that pass through. Throughout the trail, you'll encounter erosion and ruts, with some rock gardens sprinkled in for good measure. There are sections where the vehicle will get off-camber, but nothing too major, as this area is popular with hunters and is moderately traveled. Keep your eyes peeled, especially as you gain access to the trees, as deer and elk are prevalent in the area. There is no service in this area of the Coconino National Forest, so offline maps are recommended. This trail has many offshoot trails along it that lead to other trails or campsites with primitive rock fire pits. As always, please check the local forest service resources to see if fires are allowed as this area is prone to large and uncontrollable wildfires.
