Trail Overview
This trail begins with a smooth, wide dirt road for the first mile to the Buffalo Ranch Head Quarters. The trail turns right at this point and goes through an open fence and out to a point. The Buffalo Ranch Buildings on the way in are private property with a locked gate. The trail narrows and is a bit bumpier from small rocks. An SUV can easily navigate this trail. There is no access to water or facilities of any kind. This trail ends at a large circular parking area for Vasey's Hiking Trailhead. A couple of dispersed camping fire rings are in the open dirt parking area. The hiking trail has a sign-in box, and the foot trail leads down some switchbacks into the canyon. It goes all the way to the river. Small stacked rocks will guide the way. Plan and bring extra water and fuel when exploring this area. This is a remote area with generally spotty cell reception. It is recommended to download offline maps of the area before heading out.
