Trail Overview

Williamson Valley Road is the main artery that accesses the Northern section of the Prescott National Forest. The road is somewhat maintained, with it being scraped and graded several times a year. The road is gravel, with some sections of washboards and curves, but overall there are no obstacles on this trail. Some sections of this road pass through washes that may have flowing water during monsoon season, so please adhere to local signage and never enter a wash or ditch when it is flooded. This road is long and is used by hunters, ranchers, and locals regularly, so don't be surprised to see the traffic of trucks and trailers, side-by-sides, and dirt bikes headed out to access the thousands of acres of beautiful forest here. Along this route, you might see elk, antelope, cattle, deer, numerous snake species, and coyotes, as well as many bird species as well. There are plenty of off-shoot trails and roads in the area, so don't be afraid to go exploring, though remember to stay on designated trails and always TREAD LIGHTLY. There is sporadic cell service in the area, so offline maps are recommended.
