Trail Overview
This short 2.3-mile out-and-back trail is a great side trip for a lunch stop while trail running in the Pasadena Mountains. The trail starts with a hill climb with loose rocks up to 12 inches in height and several off-camber washed-out sections. Once past the hill climb, you will enter a wash. The drop in is the first obstacle. It starts with an off-camber drop around 18 inches in height, followed by a pinch point between a rock on the left side that could cause a rollover and an 18-inch rock on the right that could bind up the rear tire. After the 'Pinch' is a short rock garden. The next obstacle is a pass through a deep wash with 14-inch rocks. The steep drop and the following climb can become difficult if tire placement is not correct. The rock sticking out of the left side of the climb-out could cause sidewall damage to tires. The final climb to the overlook has several washouts that could cause issues with poor tire placement. Once at the turnaround point, enjoy the views of the American Girl Mine before heading out the same way you came in. The trail continues through the wash but it does end approximately 200 yards past the climb to the mine overlook with an 8-foot drop.
