Trail Overview
Do you have a quick half-hour to explore a loop? This rocky trail has it all. Spiky ocotillo plants And prickly pear that in the season has harvestable fruit. Keep your eyes on the game trails; a Burro will run by if you are lucky. This loop cruises around the base of the jagged Stud Mountain foothills. There are some rocky steeper wash crossings, and slight off-camber hill scrambles. There'sThere's even the occasional fire ring for those overnight camping trips. Can you find the USGS survey marker? It is OLD but informs us that we are about 670ft Above sea level. Unfortunately, someone has since damaged it to the point where the original date is no longer legible. There is also a cadastral survey marker from 1963! Little desert gems to find. Just don't try to take them with you! This trail combines routes 660 and 804 to make the loop. The midsection of the route is difficult to see, but the way to travel up the hill is marked with a BLM route post, and some people have strung rocks across to let you know not to drive the lower sections. It's an excellent little rocky half-hour loop. There are one to two bars of Verizon LTE out here.

Difficulty
Sharp rocks that may cause sidewall damage and steeper loose hill transitions add to the trail's difficulty. Careful tire placement and line choice should get one safely through.
