Trail Overview

Road starts out traveling up the valley of Elk Creek as paved road for 6.5 miles, at that point it turns into Forest Road 603/aka Cinetop Road and is gravel road. At this point road winds up thru Oak Brush, Aspen groves, and Pine Forest up a lot of switch back turns and ends up on the top of the flat top mtns. Once on top here are some great views of a canyon to your right and the valley below to the south back towards the start of the road.

Access Description

Exit I-70 at New Castle exit head north straight thru the intersection at the exit which puts you on Castle Valley Blvd. Take Castle Valley Blvd about 2.5 miles to the end and then turn right onto CR 245/Buford Road. Go 3 miles on this road to CR 243 also known as Main Elk Creek Road. This the start of the road. Roads in this area go by a lot of different names and numbers. Listed all of the names and numbers you will need.
