Trail Overview

This trail is located within the Babcock-Webb Wildlife Management Area. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission requires $3 per person or $6 per vehicle for a daily use fee. Some exceptions may apply to those who hold a current WMA Permit from FWC. Check with FWC and download the specific WMA regulations posted on their website. Once onsite, you are required to check in at the "Check Station", which is an iron post next to the information board located on the north side of Zemel Road. See the picture of the check station. Remember to tread lightly and to remain on only named or numbered roads/trails. The trailhead for this trail is located off Rusty Truck Grade. Rusty Truck can be challenging year-round. Rusty Truck intersects with Road 8 and turns into Road 7 on the east side of Road 8. Road 8 is a rather short trail running north and south. The south of the trail ends on the edge of a marshland. This trail is plenty wide but has many very muddy and sticky areas that during the rainy season or after a good rain could be very soft. Trees are far off the sides of the trail, so alternative recovery options may be needed if you get hung up. During periods open to hunting, be respectful and avoid this trail. During non-hunting season, there is a good chance of observing some wildlife (e.g. whitetail deer, wild hogs, coyotes, bobcats, bald eagles, etc.) or cattle along this trail. You will need a high-clearance 4WD to get to the trailhead and navigate the trail.
