Trail Overview
Solomon Mountain is USFS #2549 and #2549A in the Kaniksu National Forest which partially circles near the top of Solomon Mountain. This route can only be accessed by turning off USFS #2404, the Solomon Lake road. Maps show USFS road #2549 south of the junction, but this road has been gated by private landowners and cannot be used. The road has been lightly used with little maintenance and can be up to an 8% grade. There has been significant logging in the area and the westward views have benefited, though you may encounter logging equipment. The roadway ends abruptly and there are no areas to turn around a trailer. This is a popular area for hunting, with grouse, deer, elk, and grizzly bear present.
