Trail Overview
Strong Creek OHV route is a moderately used, forested, shale and dirt surface OHV route from East Hope, Idaho to near the top of Round Top Mountain in the Kaniksu National Forest. The route was recorded from the summit to the trailhead. The upper portion of the route has multiple steep switchbacks on shale rock which can be challenging and requires significant available traction from a 4x4 if ascending. The lower route is a shaded, dirt roadway that is easily driven by most OHV vehicles. The trailhead has a small staging area, no more than three vehicles with trailers will fit. You may be better off parking down near Highway 200 and riding your OHV up to the trailhead. The summit has multiple diverging trails for motorized and non-motorized use. Round Top Mountain is a short hike away and there are additional OHV routes on the other side of the summit. Huckleberries, junipers, pine trees, deer, and bears are in the area as well as at least two mine shafts which are blocked by gates. There are no bathroom facilities, cell service is available on the route.
