Trail Overview

Waterhole Creek Trail begins at Gold Hill - (Road 770) and climbs up through dense timber and along an open ridge to Prospect Peak, where it drops off onto Big Creek Road. The trailhead is designated by a blue marker. This is Trail 15 in the US Forest Service Palouse Trail System. On the Big Creek side, it is marked by a metal sign. This trail has a series of climbs and drops with some large water bars. Several hairpin turns, some tree roots, and rocky sections are found along the way. Also, there are a couple of steep incline sections. The trail is well-shaded for maybe 70%, which is very nice on a hot summer day. On the Gold Hill side, there is a large tree that hangs over the trail that may prohibit vehicles that are too tall to pass.
