Trail Overview
Forest Service Road 9053 is one of the most scenic trails this far south in the Lower Peninsula of Michigan. Located less than a mile west of Hardy Dam, this route is very accessible. Although this trail is easy with nothing technical, don't sleep on the twists and turns it navigates you through. The trail combines dirt, sand, gravel, and mud while weaving through a beautiful section of tall Michigan pine trees in the Manistee National Forest. Along this trail, you'll find a few dispersed campsite locations. If you do use these sites, please tread lightly! Like most Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause mud/water holes that can get rutted out quickly. Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle with limited places to pass. Regardless of the conditions, this is an awesome trail!
