Trail Overview
National Forest Service Trail 9597 is an easy and bouncy out-and-back off-road trail for beginners. Located off North Pine Avenue, this route is easily accessible. This trail is typically easy with nothing technical, just lots of ruts that will bounce you all around. Most of the trail is a combination of sand and dirt and weaves through a beautiful section of the Manistee National Forest with great fall foliage. Like most Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause mud/water holes that can get rutted out quickly. Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle with limited places to pass. Although the trail looks like it continues once you reach the treeline, please use the turn-around loop to head back out. The continuation tracks take you into private property. Please respect the property owners and stay on the trail. Regardless of the conditions, this is a cool trail!
