Trail Overview
National Forest Service Trail 9905 is a scenic off-road trail. Located near Buchanan Road, this route is easily accessible. This trail is typically easy. Most of the trail is a combination of sand and dirt and weaves through an exquisite section of the Manistee National Forest with great fall foliage. If you're coming from NFS 9904 or NFS 9736 (Mud Bogger), you'll encounter one mud hole at the beginning of the trail. The driver's side can get rutted out quickly. Please use caution here. Most of the time, most high-clearance 4x4s should make it through here with no problem. Should you decide to take the optional bypass, beware. It is very narrow, and any wide or long-wheelbase vehicle may not make it through this section unscathed. Please stick to the trail and Tread Lightly! Like most Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause mud/water holes that can get rutted out quickly. Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle with limited places to pass. Regardless of the conditions, this is a great trail!
