Trail Overview
Buck Ridge is a long ATV trail (11 miles) through the Gallatin National Forest south of Big Sky, Montana. The majority of the trail goes along a wide ridge line with incredible views out over the Lee Metcalf Wilderness. It's a really wide flat and smooth dirt trail. There's hardly any rock the whole way. On the west end, there is a detour to the Yellow Mule Cabin, which is a reservable log cabin you can camp at. The spur to the cabin is slightly rockier with big wide turns. The cabin was built in 1920 and used to be a ranger station. The last two miles on the east end drop down to the Buck Creek Ridge Trailhead. This is a popular trail for UTV tours and mountain bikers, so please share the trail. It is open 6/16 - 12/1 for motorized use. ATVs and UTVs must be 50" or less.
