Trail Overview
This road is a main traffic corridor between the N Valley Road, near the southern MT border and Alder, MT. There are numerous homes and ranch buildings in the area with additional traffic. This input includes a very short segment of that FS100 road with long sections yet to be input. The road is two lanes wide with great views as you transit the area. There are adequate people along this road so it is maintained open year around but that is not to say that traveling after a storm will be easy. Use good judgement. In this section you will go by the Vigilante Cabin with is operated by the Forest Service. It can be rented and offers two bedrooms with opportunities to fish, hunt, hike, off-road, and gold-pan nearby. The home was built in the 1920s and is very basic but is in a beautiful valley that is accessible year around.NOTE: The area above FS100 is closed from April 30 - June 30 for Elk calving.
