Trail Overview
Iron Mountain Road is a very scenic gravel road that becomes slightly narrower the further along you drive. Once passing the entrance gate you officially enter Gallatin National Forest and dispersed campsites can be found along the road with fire rings. From the entrance is at 7.6 miles to campsite 04 and gains 2,160 feet in elevation. This is a well-maintained forest service road that can all be done in a 2wd vehicle. When approaching this trail be aware of private property along the road until the gated entrance. Several hiking trails can be accessed along this road including, Tomato Can, Lower Deer Creek, Placer Gulch and Wepler Trail.
