Trail Overview
Access from Knott Creek Rd about 17.3 miles south of NV State Road 140. This begins as a graded gravel road and then turns to a 2-track the rest of the way up to the reservoir. This south access is much easier than the north access. Here you will find steep grades, but the dirt is mainly hardpack and in good shape. There are a few minor water crossings and gates that you will have to cross. It is a fun and enjoyable access to the higher elevation with pretty desert mountains as your backdrop. This trail would be the recommended route for less serious off-roaders who want to get to Knott Creek Reservoir. This trail can be an out and back if you like, or you can connect it to the Knott Creek North Access for a loop. ***Be aware that the North access is a more difficult trail and you will want to read the description for Knott Creek North Access Trail.***
