Trail Overview
This is a desert trail in the Nelson OHV area that is mostly wide enough for ATVers and goes along a series of ridgelines in this hilly desert landscape. The south end starts out in a wash, goes up a ledgy hill, and then continues as a ridgeline trail up and over lots of big hills. The trail gets steep to crest each hill but gets up on top of one of the highest hills in the area which gets you a really nice view of the whole valley. The trail surface is mostly loose gravel that can be slippery with some embedded rock. It goes around the edge of the hills sometimes, and these spots are more shelfy, narrow, and off-camber, and could be more difficult or dangerous for an ATV. You can see ATV tracks on the trail, but it is probably more ridden by dirt bikes. Overall it's a fun ride with cool views and a couple of off-camber spots that would be sketchy for an ATV but is pretty easy for a dirt bike, and there are lots of trail splits to explore other areas.
