Trail Overview

This road takes you to the Utopian Mine located in the Pine Nut Mountains in Carson City County, Nevada. The graded dirt road is wide and flat for the first four miles. As you cross into Carson City County, the road is named Bruinswick Canyon Road. Turning on to a double-track side trail for the last .6 miles takes you to the mine. This double-track trail is narrow and overgrown in a couple of places. In dry weather, 2WD with high clearance will work. In wet weather, the hard, clay surface turns to slimy mud and requires 4WD, traction boards and aired-down mud tires. Intermittent to no cell service is available at this location. Food, gas and lodging are available ten miles from the Johnson OHV Park in Minden, NV along Hwy 395.
