Trail Overview
Nogal Canyon is a very easy trail to traverse, accessible by most vehicles, and is well maintained. If the road is accessed from its entry off Highway 37, the first 4.7 miles is primarily private land on either side. Drivers should check speeds through this area and no dispersed camping is permitted. Once past the private land areas, there are several areas to disperse camp and multiple hiking trails along the trail with some of them designated with signage. There are no major obstacles along the trail and it should be accessible by most vehicles, including passenger cars, during dry weather. The Nogal Canyon/FSR-400 ends at a small turnaround or parking area where visitors can find a USFS trail guide for hiking trails in the area. Cell service is weak in this area due to the surrounding hills and thick trees.
