Trail Overview
Strozzi Road/FS-505 is a connecting trail that can be run from north-south or south-north, connecting Highway 60 at the north to Water Canyon Road at the south. Starting the trail from the north, the first mile of the trail crosses several private land tracts before crossing into the Forest Service boundary which is clearly indicated via FS signage. Dispersed camping is permitted on either side of the trail for 3.6 miles from this boundary line, with three designated sites along the route. The surface is a combination of rocks and dirt with a few sections being slightly more rocky, but any high-clearance 2WD and AWD vehicles will be able to complete the trail in its entirety. Views are wide and open to the northeast and east and give a great glimpse of Socorro Peak, Polvadera Mountain, and more. Cell service is strong throughout the entire length of the trail. Anyone planning on camping in the area should be mindful of the strong winds in the area and ensure that any tents used can withstand the heavy gusts that occur.

Difficulty
Drivers will encounter a couple of short steeper grade climbs, loose rocks, and mud after rain. The trail is narrow in some spots, with brush impeding the trail and little to no room to pass in these sections. There are no large obstacles along the route and the trail will be easily traversed by most high-clearance 2WD and AWD vehicles. There are a few washes in the area that have the potential be water crossings up to 12 inches in depth after heavy rains or snow melt.
