Trail Overview
Newton Road is a seasonal road that is only maintained during portions of the year. The road does have a difficult hill climb to complete in winter. The road's ditching causes the meltwater to flow in the road and freeze, and there's a deep ditch on the opposite side. The road does have a problem with downed trees due to many ash trees killed off by the Ash Bore beetle. The Finger Lakes trail enters and runs along the road, and then exits back into the woods. There is a small stream that crosses the road but is only about a foot or two wide and won't cause any issues. 4x4 is definitely required in snowy conditions. There are no muddy conditions or sections on this road.
