Trail Overview
This rocky out and back starts at the Steens Mountain Resort and is a continuation of Oregon Desert Trails. The resort is a great spot to grab a hot shower, camp or base with an RV, or pick up beer and groceries. Once past the resort, there are quite a few sections of loose and steep rocky climbs with off-camber sections that could be super slick when wet. Overall the trail is very rocky, with a surface resembling doll heads everywhere. However, the views are fantastic, and there are some epic camping spots with up to three bars of Verizon LTE coverage. It will be a slow ride to get out to these spots and navigate through the Lava rock fields.
