Trail Overview
Bonneau Ferry Wildlife Management Area covers over 10,000 acres of pine savannahs, bottomland hardwoods, wildlife openings, wetlands, and reservoirs. Recreational opportunities range from hunting and fishing to bird watching, hiking, and viewing the area's rich cultural attributes, such as the ruins of the Comingtee Plantation House and Rice Mill. Bonneau Ferry WMA has four lakes open to non-motorized boating and fishing. Bonneau Ferry may temporarily close for special hunts that can be found online on the SC DNR website. Make sure to double-check that the property is open before visiting. All impoundments are closed from November 1 - February 8th each year for the waterfowl season. This trail begins just inside the main gate and offers direct access to one of the many wetland areas within the management area. At the end of this dead-end trail is a large open grass parking area that provides access to the wetland area. There is a small non-motorized boat launch and dock; all regulations for the wetland area are posted in the photos.

Difficulty
The road is a hard-packed gravel road that was recently graded and re-graveled by the onsite DNR office. There are no obstacles on the trail. I drove the trail in the rain and there was no flooding or mud to be concerned with at the time of publishing. ATVs are not permitted on the roads on the property at this time.
