Trail Overview
8257 is an intermediate single track in the Black Hills that starts at a pinch point off a dirt road, south of the town of Nemo, South Dakota. Going east to west, it gains 750 feet over 2 miles, with several steep rocky climbs. It winds through the pine forest, through several technical sections of embedded rocks. There are rock ledges up to a foot high, and downed logs up to a foot in diameter that have to be crossed, making for some fun obstacles throughout the route. The trail surface is mostly dirt and embedded rock and solid flat rock slabs, with not as much loose rock. Some of the embedded rocks create narrow rock pinches that you have to ride through. Some of the climbs are rutted and full of roots, adding some difficulty. Watch out for baby heads in the middle of the trail. It's a pretty unique trail with all the rock slabs, with some good challenges, making for a fun ride.
