Trail Overview
Cow Freckles is a unique and fun trail in the White Wash area that rides over slick rock for the majority of the trail, constantly going up and down steep sandstone hills. There are sandy spots between the slick rock hills and white paint to follow for the majority of the trail. There aren't any ledges on the slick rock, it's just really steep and can sometimes look intimidating. Sometimes the slopes can be pretty off-camber, which adds an element of difficulty. The rock has a really grippy surface, so the climbs and descents have more traction than you'd expect if you're new to this terrain. It's a really scenic area, going next to giant boulders on the slab and past beehive-looking rock mounds. The white slick rock is speckled with black dot protrusions, giving the trail its name of Cow Freckles. The south end of the trail pops out onto a wider dirt/sand trail and continues with lots of whoops and dips through ravines.
