Trail Overview
Fawlty Towers takes new routes, exposing a dozen new obstacles through three common areas of Sand Mountain; Fault Line, Johnny's Hot Tub, and the West Rim Rock Garden areas. This is a 6-mile trail rated 8 of 10 with steep climbs, descents, a handful of off-camber obstacles, and even a few blind notches. Experienced driving and a trusted spotter are a must for drivers who have not run this route previously. The trailhead starts at the Long Valley Recreation Area and climbs the western Sand Mountain cliff line through obstacles with names such as Heaven's Gate and Shark's Fin. Once on top, the trail will take you to Johnny's Hot Tub and the optional 100+ obstacles. Continuing down the trail will lead to the next series of obstacles with names such as Three Musketeers, Problem Child, The Thumper, and Plumber's Crack. Don't be enticed to get off the trail and play in this area as there are plenty of more obstacles further on the track. Up next are the obstacles Pucker Factor a blind drop with a rock face directly to the front of the vehicle and the famous Wall of Doom. There is a bypass to the left which is a 7-rated series of steps to exit this obstacle for those not inclined to climb the wall. The Fawlty Towers trail ends in an area called The Rock Garden. A favorite playground that is full of extreme obstacles. Fawlty Towers has a mixture of rugged rock surfaces, dirt hill climbs and descents, fast desert roads and slick rock ledges, notches, and steep crawling climbs and descents.

The trail consists of rock, sand, and considerable slickrock with many steps exceeding 48". Steep inclines and declines are prevalent. Enhanced off-road equipment is required including locking devices (front & rear), 35" tires, maximum vehicle ground clearance, and tow hooks. A winch is desirable. Excellent driving skills are required. Vehicle mechanical or body damage is likely. Rollover possibilities exist.
