Koosharem Canyon - FR40076 is a 3.6-mile point-to-point trail rated 2 of 10 located in the Fishlake National Forest. Koosharem Canyon is part of the Paiute ATV Trail network that allows all-size vehicles. Koosharem Canyon/Paiute ATV Trailhead is located at an elevation of about 7,400 feet with pinyon and juniper trees for shade. Facilities include a vault restroom, information kiosk, picnic table, gravel parking, and dispersed camping sites. Leaving the parking area, the Koosharem Canyon Road is a continued climb rising roughly 1400' in 3 miles. Koosharem Canyon Road is a two-lane road suitable for 2 or 4WD vehicles. The road travels through open range and climbs through an Aspen Forest. The Fishlake National Forest in central Utah features majestic stands of aspen encircling open mountain meadows that are lush with a diverse community of forbs and grasses. Fish Lake, from which the forest takes its name, is considered by many to be the gem of Utah. The largest natural mountain lake in the state, it offers trophy fishing and bird watching. The mountains of the Fishlake National Forest are a source of water for many of the neighboring communities and agricultural valleys in the region. Elk, deer, black bear, cougar, and moose can be found in the Forest, as well as wild turkey and mountain goats. Cell phone service is intermittent. The nearest services are in Koosharem.
