Trail Overview

Cavanaugh is a 1.3-mile long ATV trail that has some fun features like harder rocky sections, and big mud puddles. It climbs up from the end of the Webfoot single track, up to a wooden bridge over a creek crossing. Throughout the trail there are several more wooden bridges, and many sections that have been built up with cement pavers to prevent erosion. This trail has a bit of added difficulty as there are frequently bigger embedded boulders in the trail. Dirt bikers can pick their way through the boulders, but ATVers will have to roll over them. One of these rock sections had smaller rocks stacked up to help the ATVs get up it. The trail is wide for dirt bikers, but a bit tight for ATVers between all the big trees that line the trail. There are several big mud puddles and water pooled up on the trail, so prepare for a muddy vehicle. There are several intersections throughout the route that are all marked to make it easy to follow. The north end ends on the Walker Valley Mainline Road near the intersection with Muddled Meanderings. Look for blackberries lining the trail while you ride.

Access Description

The Walker Valley ORV Area is a small trail system with about 20+ ATV and dirt bike trails. ATVs must be 48" or less. The staging area is a dirt parking lot with a U-turn for trailers that is accessed off of Walker Valley Road west of Big Lake. It's a popular trail system, great for families and beginner riders. It is well-signed throughout the system, as it is a bit of a maze of trails. It has a mix of easy and intermediate trails in a lush and dense forest typical to the Pacific Northwest. A Washington State Discover Pass is required for all vehicles. It is very busy on weekends.
