Trail Overview
Cayuse Creek Cruise is the route that takes you from Pumphouse, east, down to the Columbia River. From the river, you can break off north or south for further adventuring. The route has an off-camber section and trails that can be deeply rutted from rain runoff. The L.T. Murray Wildlife Area, Whiskey Dick Unit is closed to motor vehicles from February 1st to May 1st for Elk migrations. This shrubsteppe habitat provides great views of the Wild Horse Wind Farm, Columbia River, Sentinel Gap, and the Saddle Mountains. With almost 30,000 acres of land, this area offers amazing trails, with everything from gentle rolling hills, to steep off-camber, and rocky sections. Wildflowers in the spring are stunning. Use caution; in the summer, this area can be very hot, with high winds. Be prepared, as there is limited cell coverage in many areas.
