Trail Overview
Coal Lake Trail is a stunning rocky dirt trail that has a very big payoff near the end with a small parking area leading to a minute walk up some manageable rocks and roots to Coal Lake. If you can run this when it's rainy or foggy, you will get the best scenery. The trail itself has several medium-depth potholes, and no seen water crossing but does have quite a bit of exposure on the left as you climb in elevation. There isn't any cellular service at all on this trail. There was one noted camp spot which is in an overgrown area just off the trail and up a steep rocky hill. 4low is most likely needed to get to it. The trail itself can be run with most higher clearance vehicles and has a couple of different trails with a tiny parking lot at the very end.

Difficulty
Large potholes, a washboard, and some rutting. No noted water crossing. Decent exposure going up the mountain. There is room to pass in certain places but the left edge looks soft so care must be taken when passing.
