Trail Overview

Some pave roads getting to the forest roads out of Republic. Gravel roads for the remaining portion of the trip. Easy to navigate. Dusty conditions during the dry periods. The road to the lookout has some steeper pitches to encounter, however should not be a problem even for a novice rider.

Cows grazing on the road. Mostly loose gravel roads, though the last mile or so toward the peak gets quite rocky with some large rocks in ruts. 4x4s and dirt bikes will have no issues, but larger motorcycles will need to put a little more effort in.

Access Description

From Republic, proceed north to Knob Hill Rd, follow depicted route approximately 26 miles to the Franson Peak turnoff. From Curlew, proceed south 2.5 miles via the Cougar Trail (OHV Bypass trail) to Lundimo Meadows Rd to the Franson Peak turnoff. Franson Peak Rd is 3.4 miles to the top.
